New contacts, integration, fun, challenges, joy, creativity, new energy and, of course, Santa Claus! This is a short description of Saint Nicholas' Day Party organised for the first time for foreign and Polish children in Opole. It was fantastic! The children showed that, despite language and cultural barriers, they can play together and share positive energy. The children mostly waited for Santa Claus, who was called up loudly with songs and poems. When, after a long journey, he finally came, he... gave gifts to everyone. There was a lot of smile and joy and even emotion! There were also special guests, Mr Mariusz Nieckarz, a representative of the Opole Voivode and Mrs Małgorzata Kałuża-Swoboda, Director of the Department of Infrastucture and Real Estate of the Opole Voivodeship Office, who supervised the proper implementation of the project "Together for Integration", who together with the children called Mikołaj. The meeting was accompanied by the media: Radio Opole and local TV.
The aim of Saint Nicholas’ Day Party is to familiarise foreign children with Polish Christmas traditions, to familiarise them with their new state, to meet new colleagues, and to integrate Polish children with multiculturalism.
We would like to thank children, parents, teachers, primary school headmasters, guardians, and the "Smocza Jama" Playing Room for the magical Saint Nicholas’ Day Party.
